Are you an experienced World Artist specialising in stylised environments, mobile optimisation, and cohesive world‑building?

This is a contract opportunity to contribute to an upcoming mobile title focused on creating a cosy, playful and highly readable game world. You’ll be responsible for crafting visually charming environments that balance personality, performance and clarity, working fully remotely within an established art direction.

About the role

You will help build the visual foundation of a stylised mobile game world, creating environments that feel cohesive, lively and easy to read on smaller screens. The role involves producing a wide range of environment assets and integrating them directly into Unity, working collaboratively with the wider art team to maintain consistency and performance.

What you’ll do

  • Create stylised world assets including buildings, foliage, terrain and decorative props
  • Develop modular and tileable asset sets such as paths, fences and environmental details
  • Set up prefabs and integrate assets into Unity scenes and maps
  • Optimise low‑poly assets for mobile performance
  • Maintain strong visual cohesion, clear shape language and readability
  • Collaborate closely within an existing art direction and production workflow

What we’re looking for

Experience

  • Mid‑ to senior‑level experience as a world or environment artist
  • Proven experience creating stylised environment assets for games
  • Experience working on mobile titles or performance‑constrained platforms

Skills

  • Strong low‑poly modelling and UV mapping skills
  • Experience building modular and tileable environment assets
  • Unity integration experience, including prefabs and scene editing
  • Excellent understanding of shape language, readability and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to work creatively within established visual guidelines
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Drawing fundamentals and basic concepting ability
  • Experience using Blender
  • UK‑based location

Working style / behaviours

  • Comfortable working fully remote
  • Collaborative, flexible and receptive to feedback
  • Self‑motivated with strong ownership of deliverables
  • Detail‑oriented while keeping performance and clarity in mind

Why join

  • Opportunity to shape the world of a new stylised mobile game
  • Fully remote contract with flexible European location
  • Clear artistic direction with room for creative contribution
  • Competitive day rate within the freelance market
  • Collaborative, artist‑driven team environment

Associate Director of Games and Interactive

Our Associate Director, Joe, joins Giles in heading up our Games and Interactive division, his passion springing from being blown away by the effects in Star Wars at a young age. His love hasn’t wavered and Joe always seems to bring out a new Star Wars t shirt every dress down we have! We are lucky to have him considering that he once got stuck half way up a mountain in Borneo so now he goes for flatter holidays – most recently driving across America in a Mustang.
