Do you have UI art experience, and are you seeking a new job in Irvine, CA? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Skillsearch is looking for a dedicated and talented UI Artist to join our client's creative and vibrant team. This contract UI art role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.  

As a UI Artist, you will be responsible for developing a thoughtfully designed user interface. Your tasks will include inventing concepts, mocking up designs with animation, creating assets, importing them, and working with programmers to assemble and animate them in Unreal Engine. Please note that this is a contract position with a view to becoming a permanent role, and you may be based onsite or in a hybrid capacity. 

To give you an idea of how this UI art job would look and feel, these are some things you could expect to do: 

  • Develop and maintain a style guide for all game screens 
  • Create initial mock-ups for various UI screens, including title and loading screens, in-game HUD, in-game menus, inventory, and character creation 
  • Create art elements and follow through with UI implementation, iterating as necessary for the highest quality results in Unreal Engine 
  • Collaborate effectively with the Art Director, UI programmers, and UI designers to create the user interface, HUD, windows, menus, icons, and other interactive elements 

To succeed in this UI Artist role, you must have 3+ years of professional experience working as a UI Artist in computer or console gaming. You will also require an understanding of how to achieve intuitive functionality and an attractive visual appearance. Additional requirements include: 

  • The ability to mock up layouts, contemporary animations, and effects for UI elements in Flash or After Effects 
  • Experience developing game UI in Unreal Engine, Unity, or CryEngine 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • A web portfolio that demonstrates a range of high-quality PC and console game UI screens and animation 
  • Experience developing RPGs for console or PC (desirable)
