Are you an experienced C++ Engineer with strong Qt expertise and a passion for building graphics‑driven pipeline tools from the ground up?

Join a growing engineering team developing new production‑grade tools with real ownership over architecture, technical decisions and long‑term product direction. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping internal tooling ecosystems, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and building software that enables others to do their best work.

Location: Helsinki or Europe (hybrid/remote)
Must be able to travel to Helsinki when required

Employment type: 6‑month contract
Start date: May 2026

About the role

You will design and build cross‑platform desktop applications and internal tooling with a focus on clean architecture, strong APIs and high‑quality documentation. This is a product‑focused engineering role where you will be responsible for technical direction rather than just task execution. You will collaborate across teams, help define the pipeline foundations and contribute directly to improving production workflows.

What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain cross‑platform desktop tools using modern C++ and Qt
  • Design clean, dependable APIs and contribute to a shared codebase used by multiple teams
  • Apply solid graphics fundamentals to pipelines involving transforms, blending, animation and rendering
  • Develop robust architecture and tooling systems from scratch
  • Ensure reliability, documentation quality and code review discipline
  • Work across Windows, macOS and other environments, managing platform nuances
  • Leverage AI‑assisted development tools as part of your daily workflow
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical collaborators
  • Support teams by creating tools that improve efficiency and enable higher‑quality output

What we’re looking for:

Experience

  • 5+ years of professional C++ experience with strong modern C++ knowledge
  • Proven experience building desktop applications with Qt, including non‑trivial architectures
  • Experience shipping cross‑platform desktop software on at least two platforms (Windows, macOS)
  • Background working in shared, team‑dependent codebases
  • Experience with graphics fundamentals and rendering pipelines

Skills

  • Strong understanding of transforms, blending and animation workflows
  • Clean API design and documentation discipline
  • Skilled in debugging, profiling and structuring scalable tools
  • Comfortable using AI development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) as core productivity enhancers
  • Clear communicator with the ability to support technical and creative teams

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Dear ImGui for internal tooling and debug overlays
  • Experience with animation systems, timelines, curve editors or keyframing
  • Background in creative or content‑creation tool development
  • Experience with game engines or 3D engine tools

Working style / behaviours

  • Proactive and able to get up to speed quickly without heavy guidance
  • Product‑oriented thinker who cares about user experience and team productivity
  • Driven, focused and committed to delivering high‑quality solutions
  • Collaborative, supportive and motivated by helping others succeed

Why join:

  • High ownership role with meaningful architectural influence
  • Opportunity to build new tooling foundations from scratch
  • Collaborative, fast‑moving environment
  • Remote‑friendly structure with occasional travel
  • Work on impactful tools used across multiple teams and disciplines

If you’re a hands‑on C++ engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now, or email Alfie Brear - aab@skillsearch.com

Years of experience and salary levels are shown purely as a guide. We will only consider applications from candidates that can demonstrate the skills or experience required for the role.

Please be aware that while we would love to respond to every application we receive, due to high numbers we cannot guarantee this. We do however appreciate any time you invest into the application and will make sure to get in touch should anything in future more closely fit your skillset.
