Are you a highly technical Product Manager with experience building AI-powered products and a passion for turning cutting-edge technology into reliable, real-world user experiences?

Join an ambitious early-stage technology company building the next generation of AI-native productivity and workflow applications. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of product, machine learning and engineering, helping define how intelligent systems behave, how they are measured and how they deliver meaningful value to users.

About The Role

As a Technical Product Manager, AI Systems, you will operate at the intersection of user needs, AI capabilities and engineering constraints.

You will work closely with machine learning researchers and engineers to define product requirements, system behaviours, evaluation methodologies and quality standards. This is a highly technical, hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of AI systems, model limitations and production environments.

You won't simply gather requirements. You'll help shape how the system thinks, behaves and evolves over time while balancing quality, reliability, performance and user trust.

What You'll Own

AI Product Strategy

  • Define end-to-end requirements for AI-powered capabilities, from model behaviour through to user experience.
  • Translate technical capabilities, evaluation results and engineering constraints into clear product decisions.
  • Align AI investments with user needs and company objectives.
  • Shape the roadmap for intelligent product features and capabilities.

AI System Design & Decision Making

  • Evaluate trade-offs across:
    • Quality
    • Latency
    • Cost
    • Reliability
    • Safety
    • User experience
  • Work closely with engineering and machine learning teams on system architecture and behaviour.
  • Help define how AI systems respond, recover and improve over time.
  • Ensure AI-powered experiences remain predictable, understandable and trustworthy.

Evaluation & Quality

  • Design and evolve evaluation frameworks across:
    • Offline evaluation
    • Online experiments
    • Human feedback
    • Production monitoring
  • Define measurable success criteria for AI capabilities.
  • Establish quality standards and feedback loops.
  • Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.

Product Execution

  • Produce clear specifications and requirements for technical teams.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on user impact and business value.
  • Drive execution from concept through deployment.
  • Identify AI failure modes and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure teams remain aligned on priorities and objectives.

User Trust & Reliability

  • Own product quality across:
    • Correctness
    • Reliability
    • Usefulness
    • Safety
    • User trust
  • Ensure systems fail gracefully and recover effectively.
  • Help create AI experiences that users can confidently rely upon.

What We're Looking For

Technical Skills

  • Strong computer science and system design fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of modern machine learning systems.
  • Experience working with AI-powered products and LLM-based applications.
  • Ability to read and understand technical designs and architectural decisions.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Model limitations
    • Hallucinations
    • Evaluation methodologies
    • Failure modes
    • Production AI systems

Product Experience

  • Significant experience owning complex technical products.
  • Experience taking products from concept through launch and iteration.
  • Hands-on exposure to AI-powered products.
  • Experience with model evaluation, experimentation or AI system optimisation.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguity into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong decision-making skills in uncertain environments.

Mindset

  • Highly technical and intellectually curious.
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions and technical decisions constructively.
  • Strong bias toward execution and learning through iteration.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, early-stage environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
  • Strong ownership mentality and accountability.

Nice To Have

  • Experience shipping AI-heavy consumer products.
  • Engineering background or previous software development experience.
  • Experience defining ML evaluation frameworks and metrics.
  • Strong understanding of AI UX patterns and user trust.
  • Experience building products in zero-to-one environments.
  • Familiarity with LLM prompting, orchestration and agent-based systems.

Success In This Role

Successful candidates will:

  • Create product strategies that align AI capabilities with user needs and business objectives.
  • Deliver AI experiences that provide genuine value and earn user trust.
  • Balance quality, speed, reliability and cost effectively.
  • Establish data-driven evaluation and improvement processes.
  • Drive fast, informed iteration based on real-world usage.
  • Align engineering, research and product teams around clear objectives.
  • Help build intelligent systems that are reliable, understandable and scalable.

Working Environment

We believe exceptional products are built by small, highly talented teams with significant ownership and autonomy.

You'll join a collaborative environment where product and engineering leaders work closely together, make decisions quickly and focus relentlessly on building products that solve meaningful problems. We value sound judgement, technical depth and execution over process for process's sake.

This is an opportunity to help define the future of AI-native software and shape products designed to improve how people organise, communicate and get things done.

Why Join?

  • Work on cutting-edge AI products with real-world impact.
  • Help define how intelligent systems behave and evolve.
  • Collaborate closely with world-class engineers and researchers.
  • Significant ownership and influence over product direction.
  • Opportunity to shape an AI platform from an early stage.
  • Solve complex challenges at the intersection of AI, product and user experience.

Emerging Tech Team Lead

Jack heads up our Emerging Technology division. He's spent years deep in the world of XR, robotics, AI, and defence-tech, working with the companies building the tools that will shape how we live, work and create over the next decade. What drives him is genuine curiosity. He's fascinated by how emerging technology can expand what people are capable of, not replace them. The best applications he sees aren't the ones that automate humans out of the picture, they're the ones that give people more room to create, explore and solve problems that were previously out of reach.
