Technical Director in London

As a Technical Director at this studio in London you will be taking on a part-time six-month contract, working to define and deliver the technology strategy for this transformation project as they change from a print to digital first organisation. So if you’re up for taking a hands-on role in building the roadmap, products, and team then this role is perfect for you. 

This studio is passionate about transforming the way children learn. Working with data science experts and amazing illustrators, they’re ensuring academic success with their easy-to-use experiences that ensure accelerated performance for reading and writing. 

Technical Director key responsibilities: 

  • Define the technology roadmap and strategy 
  • Embed strategy across all channels and teams 
  • Define architecture and select tools to deliver the strategy 
  • Mentor other engineers 
  • Lead hiring of new engineers 
  • Define key engineering metrics to improve release frequency and quality 

Essential requirements for this role in London: 

  • Experience with domain driven design and serverless microservices 
  • Skilled in ecommerce tools such as Shopify 
  • Experience working on relational, document and graph databases 
  • Have worked on infrastructure as code (CDK or CloudFormation) 
  • Experience with DevOps tooling to support CI/CD 
  • Experience with TypeScript/C#/Ruby 
  • Experience with Unity is beneficial

A little bit about the city: London 

As the English capital, London is known to be a city full of opportunities. London is well-known for its widespread underground system, boasting 11 lines stretching 402km in total. Additionally, the Night Tube, a 24-hour service, is available on Fridays and Saturdays, making getting home after an evening exploring or catching up with friends a breeze. Aside from the Tube, London offers buses, river buses, black cabs, ‘Boris Bikes’ and trams, so getting around the city should never be a problem!
