Are you an experienced Technical Artist who thrives at the intersection of art and technology?

This is an opportunity to join a creative, technology-driven team building immersive XR and VR experiences, where you will play a key role in elevating audio, visual effects, animation, and overall real-time performance.

This role is ideal for a versatile Technical Artist who enjoys hands-on problem solving, close collaboration with artists and engineers, and working with Unreal Engine to deliver polished, high-impact interactive experiences.

About the role...

You will work across art and development teams to ensure that sound, visual effects, and animations are seamlessly integrated into real-time XR and VR products. With a strong focus on audio implementation, real-time VFX, and animation workflows in Unreal Engine, you will help improve quality, performance, and emotional impact across a range of interactive experiences.

What you'll be doing:

Sound and audio implementation...

  • Implement, optimise, and maintain sound systems in Unreal Engine
  • Integrate spatial audio, sound cues, sound classes, and sound mixes
  • Collaborate with designers and programmers to ensure immersive and responsive audio behaviour
  • Optimise audio performance for real-time XR and VR applications

VFX and real-time effects...

  • Create and implement real-time visual effects using Niagara and Unreal Engine
  • Optimise VFX for performance while maintaining high visual quality
  • Work closely with artists and developers to integrate effects into gameplay and interactions

Animation and technical art...

  • Support and implement character and object animations in Unreal Engine
  • Bridge animation, rigging, and engine implementation
  • Troubleshoot animation-, shader-, and pipeline-related issues

General technical art responsibilities...

  • Act as a technical bridge between artists and programmers
  • Optimise assets, shaders, effects, and animations for performance and stability
  • Develop and maintain tools, workflows, and documentation to improve production efficiency
  • Support profiling, debugging, and optimisation within Unreal Engine

What we’re looking for:

  • Professional experience as a Technical Artist, Technical Animator, or similar role
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 4 or Unreal Engine 5
  • Proven experience implementing audio systems in Unreal Engine
  • Experience creating and integrating real-time VFX using Niagara
  • Solid understanding of animation pipelines and real-time animation systems
  • Strong knowledge of performance optimisation in real-time environments
  • Ability to collaborate closely with artists, designers, and programmers
  • Structured, solution-oriented working style
  • Very good English communication skills; German is a plus

Nice to have:

  • Experience working on XR, VR, or real-time simulation projects
  • Knowledge of audio middleware such as Wwise or FMOD
  • Experience with shaders, materials, and Blueprint scripting
  • Background supporting complex, multi-platform real-time applications

Location and setup:

  • On-site role based in Munich
  • Full-time or part-time employment
