Our client, a virtual reality (VR) game development studio is looking for a Technical Animator to join the team in Canada. This remote role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package. 

As a Technical Animator, you will work tightly with our Technical Art, Art, and Gameplay teams. You will be focused on gameplay animation, including in-game implementation, optimization, maintenance, debugging and setting asset requirements, to reach the best-looking visual results. 

In your first few weeks in this Technical Animator role, you can expect to: 

  • Implement gameplay animation features and assets in cooperation with Gameplay Animators and Designers 
  • Develop and improve in-game animation systems and tools 
  • Prototype the visual part of new gameplay mechanics 
  • Update asset updates using Maya, MotionBuilder or Python batch tools 
  • Participate in Motion Capture sessions to keep the acting performance within the gameplay requirements 

To apply for this Technical Animator role, you will need good communication and problem-solving skills. You will also require the following: 

  • Shipped titles and/or own prototypes and research in one of the major game engines 
  • Knowledge of next-gen game animation systems architecture 
  • Experience with keyframe animation and motion capture data, animation principles and body mechanics 
  • Basic knowledge of Coding and Scripting (C++, C#, Python)
