Skillsearch is helping a mid-sized independent video game studio of around 100 developers find an experienced Technical Animator to join their talented team. This full-time technical animation role is based in Toronto, Canada, and offers an excellent salary and benefits package, including flexible working.
As a skilled and attentive Technical Animator, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks and should expect various issues and challenges across different game areas. You will work directly with studio administration, animators and programmers to bring characters alive and realize the vision of the game's combat.
In your first few weeks in this Technical Animator role, you can expect to:
- Develop and improve in-game animation systems and tools in collaboration with animators and designers
- Conduct prototyping efforts that include a risk assessment and close collaboration with programmers
- Improve or create pipelines where necessary
- Create and maintain documentation
- Support animators and designers with the integration when needed
To apply for this technical animation job, you will need at least 3 years of professional experience as a technical animator in the gaming industry, preferably next-gen. You will also require the following:
- Digital content creation tools experience (Maya and Motion Builder preferable)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A high degree of self-motivation and initiative-taking
- An understanding and passion for video games
- The desire and the ability to take on research and self-education
