Solution Architect

We are looking for a seasoned Solution Architect for Data Platforms to join our dynamic team. This is a contract role based in Brussels with a hybrid work model, requiring 2 to 3 days a week onsite. EU citizenship is required.

In your role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data-related platforms in the Azure cloud that align with the organisation's business objectives and technical requirements. This position involves working closely with various stakeholders, including development, operations, and security teams, to ensure that data storage, management, and retrieval solutions are efficient, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement platforms for mission-critical applications as part of a dynamic team.
• Develop and document architectural solutions and designs for data storage, management, and retrieval.
• Ensure alignment of data solutions with the organisation's overall architectural principles and standards.
• Create comprehensive design documentation, including architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, data models, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate data solutions into the overall platform.
• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and optimisation of data storage and management systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship on data best practices and technologies.
• Work closely with other Solution Architects, specialising in Azure, messaging, observability, and infrastructure, to ensure cohesive and integrated solutions.
• Align design with the established cloud environment in collaboration with the infrastructure project team.
• Ensure adherence to security best practices and compliance requirements by collaborating with the security team.
• Design data solutions for high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for data systems to proactively identify and address issues.
• Stay updated with the latest data technologies, features, updates, and industry trends to continually improve the platform's architecture.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing data solutions.
• Proven experience in the architecture and design of complex data systems, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
• Hands-on experience with database technologies such as MongoDB, SQL databases, Elasticsearch, or other NoSQL databases.
• Strong understanding of data architecture principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in data modelling, data integration, indexing, sharding, data lifecycle strategies, data backup, and recovery strategies.
• Knowledge of data security best practices, including data encryption, access controls, and data masking.
• Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing data services in the cloud.
• Experience with scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Relevant data-related certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or equivalent, are preferred.
