Senior Technology Programmer in Nottingham

We’re looking for a talented Senior Technology Programmer to join the team at this award-winning studio in Nottingham. Your role as a Senior Technology Programmer will involve refining and optimising game systems to meet high standards and will require you to have a solid background in AAA games. This exciting opening is a great chance for an experienced Senior Technology Programmer to join a studio that is enjoying huge success year on year, this is your chance to become a part of it!

As a Senior Technology Programmer at Nottingham you will be responsible for the day to day development of game features across multiple platforms.  You will be responsible for the design and implementation of the underlying technology within a title, potentially mentoring one or two junior programmers to help achieve your goals.  You will be capable and responsible for estimating the time and cost of feature implementation, and then meeting those budgets.  You will be helped in this and report to the lead programmer on the team who will be your line manager.

Senior Technology Programmer responsibilities:

  • Design implement and debug technology within the game you are working on.
  • Use the tools required, including dev kits to refine, polish and optimise the game systems to meet the highest standards.
  • Communicate the requirements for your work with content creators

Key requirements for this role in Nottingham:

  • 5+ years of C++ experience, coding and debugging.
  • A minimum of one area of specialism within game developments (graphics, networking, AI, etc.).
  • Experienced working with a commercial game engine or large in-house game engine.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of build and pipeline systems within game development.
  • At least 1 shipped title (preferably console)

The following experience is also desirable:

  • Good time management and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to take direction and criticism.
  • Experience managing small teams and mentoring junior programmers
  • Knowledge of large-scale asset pipelines.
  • Knowledge of source control and asset management tools.
