Skillsearch is looking for a skilled and committed Senior Level Designer to join our client's inclusive and talented team. This full-time level design role is based in Amsterdam and comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.
As a Senior Level Designer, you will have a great affinity with the player experience and collaborate across disciplines to craft gameplay that showcases the game's mechanics, characters and setting to make memories that stay with the player.
To give you an idea of how this Senior Level Designer role will look and feel, these are some things you can expect to do:
- Create spatial designs that consider movement through space, guide the player’s attention and stage game and narrative events
- Model simple 3D meshes for blocking out environments
- Design and implement levels using blueprints or similar visual scripting tools
- Collect and analyse playtest data and use it to validate the level design or improve the player experience
- Implement the placement of game entities, such as characters, enemies cover, pickups, etc., and balance the level’s difficultly
To apply for this level design job, you will need at least two full development cycles of experience on a major PC/console title in a level design role on an action-adventure title. You will also require the following:
- The ability to independently implement level blueprints or other scripting languages
- Highly organised with good time management and planning skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of games industry trends and contemporary development practices
- Experienced in Agile development and working in cross-disciplinary teams
- Exceptional knowledge of working with the Unreal Engine
