Skillsearch is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Senior Lead Game Programmer to join our client's welcoming and inclusive team. This full-time lead programming role is based in Amsterdam and comes with an excellent salary of €85,000 and a fantastic benefits package.
As a Senior Lead Game Programmer, you will be responsible for managing and directing the development of technology for a game development project, both for current projects and future developments. You will take the project’s vision, technical requirements, timeline and budget into account while motivating the tech team and taking on the technical challenges within the project, identifying risk areas and coming up with approaches and solutions during the game's development
If you were already working in this lead programming job, here are some things you would be doing:
- Working closely with lead programmers and principals to deliver all of the technical systems of a large game project
- Ensuring tech team compliance with the project’s vision, technical requirements, timeline and budget
- Building up an outstanding tech team and directing and mentoring the project’s tech leads and principals
- Participating in high-level planning of the project and guiding the tech team to meet project milestones and budget
- Identifying high-level, tech-related project risks and coming up with decisions and solutions to mitigate those
To apply for this Senior Lead Game Programmer role, you will need a background in managing a team of programmers for multiple game projects and being responsible for the projects being delivered on time, within budget and at the quality level expected to technical specification and stability. You should also have written several games/projects in C++ and understand the language's concepts, such as object-oriented approach, pointers and references, containers, inheritance, polymorphism, structures, visibility, smart pointer types, templates, multiple inheritance and overloading. In addition, it would be a clear bonus if you have created projects using the Unreal Engine and have a good understanding of creating blueprints and optimising code using C++ and the Unreal pipeline.
