Senior Generalist Programmer in Ottawa

Are you brilliant all round programmer looking to work on AAA projects with no crunch allowed?

As a Senior Generalist Programmer at this studio in Ottawa you’ll be working with an a range of programmers from within the studio and at our client’s studios so you’ll need to bring your strong programming skills to the mix and know how to work with other people’s strengths to make the best code around.

Senior Generalist Programmer Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside clients and partners and their programmers to bring the games to life!
  • Take control of design, implementation and debugging across all game features as needed.
  • Input on system improvements and tools that will allow game designers to work most effectively.
  • Work on game toolsets and pipelines, and also analyse and optimise runtimes.

Requirements for this role in Ottawa:

  • 6 or more years of experience as a programmer in a games studio.
  • Extensive background of work using both C++ and C#.
  • Able to show your understanding of the fundamentals and bigger picture of what is needed from your coding.
  • Experience programming with Unity, Unreal and/or similar.
  • Experience analysing and optimising existing code.
  • Previous work with large codebases.
  • Good maths skills including understanding of vectors, matrices, and algorithms.
  • It would also be beneficial if some of your programming experience is for both console and mobile games.

VR and AR Consultant Ryan Templeman

Ryan looks after programmers particularly focusing on the VR/AR space. We think he’s working here mostly get his hands on new Lord of the Rings VR experiences as soon as they come out although, with his level of knowledge, maybe he should be helping make them instead!    He is one of the few people on the team that is a born and bred Brightonian.
