Senior Game Programmer in Guildford

Are you a Senior Game Programmer with strong Unity experience? Looking to join a fast-growing studio and create fun, high-quality mobile games? Are you looking for a diversified role liaising and collaborating with different departments to achieve one goal?

As a Senior Games Programmer at this studio in Guildford, you will be taking on significant responsibilities in the game development process and reporting directly to the Lead Coder. Your tasks will range from setting plans and strategies for projects to mentoring junior team members and day to day coding.

Senior Game Programmer responsibilities:

  • Work with Lead Programmer to ensure quality content
  • Implement project strategies for systems, features, infrastructure, and R&D
  • Mentor junior members of the team and set expectations
  • Produce and maintain high-quality code

Essential requirements for this role in Guildford:

  • Highly skilled in C# and coding
  • Understanding of and experience with Unity
  • Experience with Android/iOS and frameworks such as cocos2dx
  • Skills in languages such as Lua and Python
  • Experience with Jenkins, Gradle, Make, Team City and more
  • Understand principles of 2D and 3D animation
  • Experience using software packages such as 3DSMax, Maya, Photoshop, etc. would be a bonus

A little bit about the city: Guildford

Located in a beautiful spot in between London and England’s south coast, Guildford is a busy market town that has been recently updated to be home to some great modern facilities such as an award-winning sport centre, including an ice rink and athletics stadium. However, there is still some culture to be explored in this city, with its historic buildings, beautiful parks and a theatre. Sitting on top of a central hill, Guildford Cathedral looks over the city whilst being surrounded by beautiful, picturesque scenery, making for some great exploring. Situated just outside of London, Guildford is a short 35-minute journey into the capital by train, so is ideally positioned so you are not too far away from a day trip to the big city!

VR and AR Consultant Ryan Templeman

Ryan looks after programmers particularly focusing on the VR/AR space. We think he’s working here mostly get his hands on new Lord of the Rings VR experiences as soon as they come out although, with his level of knowledge, maybe he should be helping make them instead!    He is one of the few people on the team that is a born and bred Brightonian. In fact he has never moved far - to the point where last time he moved, it was only 2 doors down from his old place!
