Senior Game Designer

Skillsearch is helping a large VR developer recruit a Senior Game Designer to ensure they meet their goal of bringing VR to the next level. This full-time role is based in Amsterdam and comes with a generous salary and benefits package. The job is offered on a hybrid working basis with two office days per week. 

As a Senior Game Designer, you will generate novel game design ideas and solutions that support the project’s vision and respect its constraints, working autonomously across discipline and seniority levels.  

In your first few weeks in this Senior Game Designer role, you can expect to: 

• Create documentation that drives the development of a concept, through prototyping, to deliver high-quality game mechanics, systems, or content 
• Transparently and proactively plan and manage your workload and dependencies in the short and medium term 
• Implement robust and scalable mechanics and systems in the Unreal engine using Blueprints and proprietary tools to the desired quality level for the phase of development 
• Collect and analyse data to create options that can be methodical

To apply for this Senior Game Designer VR role, you will need to have worked through the full development cycle in a multidisciplinary team, where you have taken a role directing the collective effort in terms of design and acting as a champion for a major feature of the project and ensuring it meets the project vision. You will also require the following: 

• Excellent communication and organisational skills 
• Proficiency with Perforce, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Discord, MS Office, or equivalent tools 
• The ability to analyse and draw conclusions from play test data when balancing or refining the game to deliver the desired player experience.
