Senior Combat Designer in Guildford

As a Senior Combat Designer at this studio in Guildford, you will be leading the design and implementation of core combat systems and mechanics, supporting design teams to create exciting and compelling content and bring the vision of the project to life.

Senior Combat Designer responsibilities: 

• Design and implement combat systems and game logic using visual scripting systems and in-house tools 
• Assist with development of combat systems 
• Create and develop combat systems from conception to final quality 
• Create and translate prototypes into game systems 
• Modify existing blueprints to create new gameplay 
• Define combat rules, actions and abilities 
• Craft third person combat encounters and experiences 
• Mentor other designers across the team 

Key requirements for this role in Guildford: 

• Commercial experience shipping a third person action/combat game in a combat design role 
• Experience designing combat rules, enemy behaviour and skill progression systems 
• Able to create interesting and exciting combat experiences 
• Experience scripting and level designing to accommodate combat scenarios 
• Track record of designing and tuning combat scenarios 
• Understanding of designing and writing scripts to handle gameplay systems, AI behaviours and scripted sequences 
• Knowledge of third person combat systems and techniques used in current AAA titles
