Senior Character Artist

Do you have graphic design experience, and are you seeking a new job in Glasgow? Skillsearch is helping a BAFTA Award-winning team find a Senior Character Artist, and the role comes with a salary of up to £45,000 and a great benefits package. 

As a Senior Character Artist, you will sculpt and model humans, creatures and clothing in a realistic visual style. You will also apply for retopology for real-time implementation, with an efficient UV layout, and implement characters in-engine alongside the technical animators. 

In your first week in this Senior Character Artist role, these are the tasks you can expect to tackle: 

• Texturing for realistic skin and fabrics, as well as more abstract horror surfaces 
• Retopology for real-time implementation, with efficient UV layout 
• Creating hair cards and hair grooms, implementing in Unreal Engine 5 
• Implementing characters in-engine alongside the technical animators. 

To apply for this Senior Character Artist role, you will need 3+ years of professional experience in video game development, preferably with at least one shipped title on PC or Console. You will also require the following: 

• A portfolio consisting of high-quality character work that demonstrates your understanding of character and creature design and shows a passion for quality 
• Excellent skills in ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Blender/3DS Max/Maya 
• Skill bringing unique characters based on existing concept art to life, with working knowledge of character pipelines in Unreal Engine 
• Excellent attention to detail, and a good understanding of human and imagined anatomy.
