Senior Character Artist in Sheffield

As a Senior Character Artist at this studio in Sheffield, you will be taking on a wide range of responsibilities as you work on multiple titles, including creating documentation for character art pipelines, providing solutions to any issues that arise, mentoring junior members of the team, and of course creating high quality assets to be used in game.

Character Artist responsibilities: 

  • Transfer high poly models into low poly models adhering to guidelines 
  • Create high quality textures suitable for traditional and PBR pipelines 
  • Stay up to date with modern processes in the character art pipeline 
  • Create documentation for techniques and pipelines for character production 
  • Provide solutions to any design problems before modelling 
  • Ensure models work well in motion by working with rigging and animation 
  • Mentor character artists and share personal experience to improve processes 

Essential requirements for this role in Sheffield: 

  • Have a keen artistic eye and understand technical requirements of the character art pipeline 
  • Skilled across all areas of character production 
  • Able to keep up with modern processes 
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a high level of expertise across the character creation workflow 
  • Significant experience of creating high quality character assets 
  • Experience working with game engines (ideally UE4) 
  • In-depth understanding of game development processes
