As a Senior Animation Programmer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining animation systems that enhance the realism and fluidity of game characters and environments. Your work will be essential in creating immersive and visually captivating gameplay experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animation Systems Development: Design and implement animation systems within Unreal Engine, including skeletal animation, blend trees, inverse kinematics, and procedural animations.
  • Optimisation and Performance: Ensure animation systems are optimised for performance and scalability. Identify and fix any performance bottlenecks or bugs.
  • Collaboration with Art and Design Teams: Work closely with animators, artists, and designers to ensure animation systems align with the artistic vision and gameplay requirements.
  • Integration and Testing: Integrate animations seamlessly into the game, conducting thorough testing to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for animation systems and workflows, ensuring clarity for other team members and future development.

Requirements:

  • Unreal Engine Proficiency: Extensive experience with Unreal Engine, particularly in animation programming and systems.
  • Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in C++ and Blueprint scripting within Unreal Engine.
  • Animation Systems Experience: Proven experience in developing animation systems for games, including skeletal animation, blend trees, inverse kinematics, motion matching, facial animation, and procedural animations.
  • Gameplay Systems Knowledge: Understanding of how animation systems integrate with overall gameplay mechanics.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail to address animation-related challenges.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with animators, artists, designers, and other programmers.
  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
