Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Machine Learning Researcher to join a team at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning. You will work with researchers and engineers to explore innovative ideas that can improve the state of the art in probabilistic modelling and Bayesian optimisation.  

In your first few weeks in this Machine Learning Researcher role, you can expect to: 

  • Develop your research program, with a view to developing new tools and techniques for probabilistic models, Bayesian optimisation and related fields 
  • Engage in team collaborations to meet research goals and report your research findings both internally and externally 
  • Contribute to internal product development and customer research projects, assisting in the application of cutting-edge machine learning research to real-world problems 
  • Take an active role in the development of open-source libraries. 

The essential skills and experience for this role include a PhD in a technical field or an equivalent level of experience, plus published work in machine learning, statistics, or optimization conferences and/or journals. You will also need: 

  • A background in decision-making (Bayesian optimisation, bandits, reinforcement learning, active learning) and probabilistic modelling and methods (Gaussian processes, Bayesian neural networks, Variational inference, etc) 
  • Experience in numerical programming (Python/NumPy/Tensorflow/PyTorch).
