Lead Technical Artist in Shanghai

As a Lead Technical Artist at this studio in Shanghai, you will be on a mission to make the game visuals of the project you’re working on the best they can be. You will look after complex art tools, processes and pipelines and generally working as an integral part of the team. 
This passionate team has several studios around the world and with a new expansion in Shanghai, this is the perfect time for someone who is talented and ambitious to join them! If you love the sound of working on unique, immersive interactive experiences then you could be the perfect fit for this role. 

Lead Technical Artist responsibilities: 

  • Champion the game vision and art principles 
  • Develop, test and maintain tools and pipelines 
  • Focus on usability and efficiency in your work 
  • Provide technical support to team members in using the 3D art pipeline and engine tools 
  • Enable the integration of art assets into Unity engine 
  • Review the art creation process and identify areas for improvement 
  • Create prototypes and technical documentation to drive the art vision 
  • Recruit and develop studio art talent 

Key requirements for this role in Shanghai: 

  • Have worked on multiple shipped mobile, PC or console games 
  • Significant prior experience in a technical art or tools programming role 
  • Strong understanding of modelling, animation, and art creation pipelines 
  • Experience using Unity engine or similar 
  • Experience with Python and Maya API 
  • Able to work with teams across different locations 
  • Passionate about PC and mobile games 
  • Understanding of Chinese culture and values 
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
