Skillsearch is helping a growing, independent game developer based in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire find a Lead Programmer to join their welcoming and collaborative team, working remote within the UK. This full-time role offers an excellent salary and benefits as you work on emerging technologies and greenfield projects.
As a Lead Programmer, you will be supported by a creative team who are able to explore new ground in this ever-changing landscape. The group aims to develop and inspire themselves and their games, and you will be encouraged to explore your creativity outside of working on your own projects.
Some of the primary responsibilities you will take on in this Lead Programming role include:
- Ensuring the programming team contributes to player satisfaction and enjoyment and making the games more fun to play
- Recruiting and guiding a small team of Programmers, creating a positive environment which focuses on open feedback, mentoring, and the career development of your team
- Prioritising the daily workflows to ensure a balanced approach to workload and production management on behalf of the Programmer team
- Helping run creative planning sessions, scrums, and retrospectives
To apply for this Lead Programmer position, you will need 10 years of industry experience and 5 years of C++ or C# experience. You will also require the following:
- Experience leading a team
- Experience with engines such as Unity, Lumberyard and Unreal
- Keen understanding of how an engine works and the commercial implications
- Ability to take a design brief and flesh out the ideas, find the problems and the fun, and explain these to relevant stakeholders
