We are searching for an experienced Lead Network Engineer to take charge of the network architecture and online systems for an upcoming major project. This remote role, open to candidates within the US and Canada, offers the opportunity to lead a talented team in developing seamless and robust online experiences. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in network programming within the gaming industry, with a strong emphasis on C++ programming and Unreal Engine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient network architectures to support online features.
  • Performance Optimisation: Ensure low-latency, high-performance online experiences by optimizing multiplayer systems and addressing challenges related to latency, bandwidth, and server performance.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, gameplay programmers, and other departments to integrate network features seamlessly into the game.
  • Infrastructure Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable server deployment and maintenance.
  • Industry Trends: Stay updated on the latest developments in network programming and online gaming technologies, integrating new tools and techniques as needed.
  • Innovation: Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance network capabilities and maintain cutting-edge standards.

Qualifications:

  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in a senior network engineering role, with a track record of managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in C++ programming, with deep knowledge of Unreal Engine and software architecture principles.
  • Industry Experience: At least 7 years of professional experience in the games industry, specifically in network programming.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to overcome technical challenges and drive innovation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Agile Experience: Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus, with a focus on collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for Gaming: A deep passion for gaming and a commitment to creating unforgettable player experiences through cutting-edge technology.
