Remote Lead Material Artist

As a Lead Material Artist at this fully remote studio, you will be responsible for managing, leading and mentoring the material team to produce amazing textures and materials, driving overall quality of in-game assets and pioneering the material creation pipeline and flow. 

This studio is made up of a veteran tam of developers, and they are currently working on a highly anticipated upcoming AAA game, so it’s the perfect time to join them! 

Lead Material Artist responsibilities: 

  • Define the visual quality goals for 3D environments 
  • Strive to achieve high quality art 
  • Manage a list of material library for internal and external use 
  • Review textures and materials produced by the team 
  • Balance artistic quality with technical limitations 
  • Mentor, manage and inspire a team of artists 

Key requirements for this remote role: 

  • Significant prior experience as an artist in the games industry 
  • Have worked on one or more shipped title 
  • Expert knowledge of material creation processes in Unreal Engine 
  • Knowledge of 3D art tools such as 3DS Max, Zbrush or Maya 
  • Understanding of art fundamentals 
  • Leadership skills
