Skillsearch is looking for a talented and dedicated Lead Gameplay Engineer to join our client's inclusive and thriving team. This full-time gameplay engineering role is based in London and offers a favourable salary and benefits.

As a flexible Lead Gameplay Engineer, you will work across disciplines to formulate a coherent gameplay delivery and quality plan. You will also work closely with the Technical Director to develop studio-wide technology strategies and processes.

In your first few weeks in this Lead Gameplay Engineer role, you can expect to:

  • Help develop designs and solutions to large-scale gameplay problems to facilitate the development of unique and world-class experiences
  • Liaise with other disciplines to reduce friction and streamline iteration and productivity
  • Inspire engineering excellence and high quality across the codebase
  • Mentor and encourage the development of your team and those around you
  • Work closely with the production team and directors group to inform project timelines

To apply for this gameplay engineering job, you must have shipped a AAA title in a senior or lead gameplay role or similar. You should also be a skilled C/C++ programmer and have an excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals and mathematics. In addition, you will require the following skills and expertise:

  • Familiarity with modern game engines, their architecture and capabilities
  • Knowledge of the intricacies and complexities of developing networked games and features
  • A genuine passion for online games and a good sense of game design and high quality in gameplay
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate within your team and across disciplines
  • A natural manager that loves to support and bring out the best in people
