Lead Environment Artist in Edinburgh

We’re looking for an Environment Artist with a passion for the games industry to join a high-calibre studio in Edinburgh. If you’d like more information, read on for details!

As a Lead Environment Artist at this studio in Edinburgh, you will be responsible for defining the quality of game environments whilst also managing a team of artists to ensure high-quality assets are in production.

This studio is working on a highly anticipated original IP new game, so it’s the perfect time to join the team! As a member of the team you will be valued for your individual input and encouraged to use your voice, so you’ll have a huge impact on the final product.

Lead Environment Artist responsibilities:

  • Work with the Art Director and Concept Lead to define visual quality goals for environment art on the project
  • Lead the Environment Art team
  • Oversee quality of environment art throughout production
  • Manage pipelines and workflows
  • Mentor team members to aid career development
  • Create high quality 3D assets, maps and textures
  • Implement assets into the game engine

Key requirements for this role in Edinburgh:

  • Plenty of 3D asset creation experience
  • Extensive professional industry experience as a game artist
  • Prior experience in a Lead Artist role in the games industry
  • Experience of working with current 3D modelling tools including 3DS Max, Maya, or similar
  • Experience with texture creation and authoring tools such as Substance
