Lead Character Artist in Oslo

As a Lead Character Artist at this studio, you will have the choice to work either in Oslo or Stockholm (with relocation support provided) as you strive to build goals and consistency for character art within the game, acting as a team ambassador to motivate and inspire the character art team, working to find solutions and provide high quality assets.

Lead Character Artist responsibilities: 

  • Develop a style and provide consistent quality across characters, creatures and models 
  • Coordinate character art resources 
  • Mentor and lead character artists throughout the pipeline 
  • Review work and ensure it is aligned with the game vision 
  • Balance artistic aspects with technical constraints 
  • Assist with hiring, training, appraising and resolving issues 
  • Build partner and client relationships 
  • Stay up to date on best practices and industry trends 

Key requirements for this role in Oslo: 

  • Extensive prior commercial experience in a Character Art role 
  • Previous experience in a leadership role 
  • Knowledge of UE4 and production management tools 
  • Highly skilled in 3D art fundamentals including materials, textures, anatomy and more 
  • Skilled in ZBrush, Autodesk Maya, 3DSMax, Substance Suite or other similar packages 
  • University degree (or equivalent experience) 
  • Passionate about making and playing games
