As a Lead Character Artist at this studio in London, you will work closely with the Art Director as you create and maintain high-quality characters for a new AAA project, defining the look of heroes and villains! This role is largely focused on leadership, so you should have plenty of experience with leading a team of artists and supporting their careers to be successful within the role.
This studio creates team-based multiplayer games focusing on healthy competition and teamwork. With successful titles already under their belt, and a brand-new AAA project up their sleeve, it’s the perfect time to join them! Lead Character Artist key responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate and inspire a team of artist to maintain quality and consistency through mentoring and feedback
- Drive visual quality with other Lead Artists
- Work with Art and Design Directors to create engaging and memorable characters
Essential requirements for this role in London:
- Experience of managing a character art team – holding 121s, setting objectives, mentoring, etc.
- Highly skilled with 3D Studio MAX or Maya, Zbrush, and Photoshop
- Excellent 3D modelling skills
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, proportions, mechanics, etc.
- Knowledge of mechanical construction and functionality
- Experience of character pipelines and efficient memory management of UVs and textures
- Experienced working with multiple texturing workflows for current PBR and previous generations
- Examples of current and past work demonstrating understanding of form, silhouette, shape, colour, lighting, texture
- Understanding of character modelling, rigging and skinning
