Lead Artist in Brighton: 

Are you an experienced Lead Artist looking to combine your skill set, experience and passion for games with a talented art team? If so, look no further as we have the perfect role for you! 

As the Lead Artist, you will be a key contributor towards the creation of top quality in game art as its applied to real-time technology for AAA console games. This is an exciting opportunity at an established AAA games studio that has worked on a vast range of world class projects!  
 

Key requirements for this role in Brighton: 

  • Work alongside the Art Director, Studio Leads and Client on the artist vision and art objectives 
  • Discipline leads with the team to ensure that the projects technical and aesthetic standards are met within the timeframes 
  • Mentor, manage and develop a cross discipline art team, helping them achieve the best results possible 
  • Lead, demonstrate, communicate, and set clear expectations that coincide with the artistic vision 
  • Innovative and passionate with an eye to recognise emerging trends within game art 
  • Play a key part in encouraging a collaborative art culture within the team 
  • Enlisting new members to the team and ingraining the studio’s core values to ensure excellence 
  • Acknowledge the importance of gameplay and build artwork that enhances the player's experience 

 

Required skills for this Lead Artist role: 

  • Lead Artist experience with a shipped AAA title 
  • Understanding and interest in multiple disciplines of art production 
  • Ability to give direction and constructive critique of artwork throughout the different stages 
  • A world class portfolio with industry related work that showcases your talent and inspires us! 
  • Experience working with current art games engines e.g. unreal engine for modern console hardware 
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, communication and organisational skills 
  • Experience establishing and troubleshooting production pipelines for the delivery of art production, both internally and externally 
  • Experience working with recruitment and studio leadership team to assist with the hiring process 
  • Have participated in wider recruitment initiatives e.g. industry talks and events 
  • Have a passion for games!

A little bit about the city: Brighton 

Now known as one of the most sought-after places to live in in the UK, Brighton is certainly a city worth learning about. Often referred to as London-by-the-sea, as well as being under an hour via rail to the capital, these is clearly a lot to Brighton that is highly desirable! Thanks to its compact city centre, the best way to manoeuvre Brighton’s busy streets is on foot, which is certainly the most interesting way to get around too, making for a beautiful stroll around the famous lanes. As well as the lanes, Brighton is famous for its stunning beach, which is certainly a tourist spot come summertime. You can sit on the pebbles with an ice cream, go for a stroll down the Palace Pier, or even take a swim around the old West Pier, an iconic landmark in the city. 

As well as the landmarks, Brighton is famous for being a hugely welcoming and accepting city, there is no way anyone could feel out of place thanks to its vastly diverse culture, you will find people from all walks of life in this city. Just outside of the city lies the South Downs, with plenty of scenery and wildlife available to explore, highlights include Devils Dyke and Ditchling Beacon, which offer a stunning respite from city life.
