A highly successful game studio is looking for a Lead Animator who is experienced in Maya to join their talented and inclusive team in Oslo, Norway. This full-time Animator role will help guide the studio's team of animators globally, earning an excellent salary and benefits for your expertise.
As a Lead Animator, you will be working closely with the Animation Director to define the animated look and feel of a brand-new IP. You will use your experience creating in-game animation systems and AAA animations to create an amazing 3rd person survival experience. The Lead Animator will manage a team of animators across multiple of their client studios and will wear many hats on an agile team.
During your first few weeks in this Lead Animator role, you can expect to take on some of the following:
- Work closely with the project Animation Director to develop new animation systems and provide consistent quality while taking the systems across the finish line
- Be responsible for guiding, mentoring, and developing the animation team to create high-quality, optimized visuals and deliver a successful project on time
- Guide, mentor, and motivate Technical Animators as they develop and polish their work throughout the animation pipeline
- Carry out key department responsibilities that include hiring, training, appraising performance, and resolving issues
The ideal candidate for this Lead Animator position will be interested in playing games and game development beyond animation and a minimum of 7 years of AAA animation experience on multiple shipped titles. Prior leadership experience is preferred. You will also need:
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 and production management tools
- Proficiency with MotionBuilder, Maya, or other 3D software packages
- Excellent communication, organisation, mentorship, time management and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor/Undergraduate degree or equivalent
