If you're a passionate mobile game designer looking to be a part of a small, veteran team in Canada, Skillsearch wants to hear from you. We are helping a Toronto-based team recruit a full-time Game Designer for casual mobile titles, and the role comes with a compelling salary and benefits for your expertise.

We are looking for a Game Designer (Mathematician) with keen quantitative capabilities to work on and shape something new. You will be responsible for creating new game content and features while also iterating on current gameplay mechanics. Strategic and creative, you understand that both data and creativity are the secret ingredients to produce an innovative game design.

To give you an idea of how this flexible Game Design role would look and feel, here are some things you could expect to do:

  • Transform ideas from the Product Owner into detailed and clear designs communicated through documentation, spreadsheets, and flows
  • Develop features for the core gameplay, owning the balance and progression of the game
  • Design to create epic game experiences and progression, using rewards and monetization as driving factors
  • Provide actionable recommendations and work directly with programmers and artists to ensure game design mechanics and user experiences are correctly implemented

The ideal Game Designer candidate will be familiar with all the top mobile titles, specifically in the casual, f2p space. You have joined projects in all stages of development, from prototyping, through production, to LiveOps. Familiarity with Unity and proficiency with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Matlab, Lua) would be beneficial. We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Experience and confidence in game-tuning and optimization for f2p games
  • Expertise in documentation for features and specs and wizardry in excel and spreadsheets
  • A wealth of knowledge in game monetization concepts and economic modelling
  • Excellent understanding and proven advocacy for the player experience and journey

In return for your knowledge and expertise, you will receive a favourable salary and benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits spend from Day 1
  • Continuous education spend, ready for you on Day 1
  • Access to the technology you need to do great things (hardware and software, PLUS an extra spend to use on your home office set up)
  • Regular paid team lunches, at-home contests and challenges, themed happy hours, dozens of fun slack channels and more!
