Skillsearch is helping an interactive gaming company find a skilled and creative Environment Artist to join their inclusive and friendly team. This full-time environment art role is remote with base in Canada and comes with an excellent salary and benefits package as well as hybrid and flexible working options.

Please note this role is remote within Canada only.

As an Environment Artist, you will build the future of online multiplayer casino games across multiple platforms, including Desktop VR, Mobile VR and Console VR. 

In your first few weeks in this environment art job, you can expect to: 

  • Help to concept, produce and light compelling environments in Unity within production goals for a live-service online game 
  • Maintain consistent aesthetic and technical quality for all assets 
  • Create content, including 3D modelling/sculpting, texture creation, material setup and lighting 
  • Help define and maintain art production pipelines, tools and systems to scale assets from high-end PCs to mobile Android VR headsets 

To succeed in this Environment Artist role, you will need hands-on experience with Unity and a portfolio of highly detailed real-time 3D art focused on environments. You will also require proven experience creating various environments such as buildings, cities, natural landscapes, etc. In addition, you should have demonstrable adaptability to different environmental themes focusing on modern and contemporary but also sci-fi, medieval, space-themed and even natural, organic locations. The following skills and expertise are also essential: 

  • Artistic and technical knowledge in scene composition, level design, lighting, and environmental FX (bloom, color adjust, fog, etc.) 
  • Excellent material and texturing skills for realistic art styles using PBR and creating more stylized environments suited to mobile 
  • Great sense of space and ability to consider player experience, movement, visual composition and the limitations/benefits of VR 
  • High proficiency with 3DS Max, Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop and ZBrush 
  • Deep understanding of asset optimization challenges/techniques in a shipped product
