Skillsearch has an excellent opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Engine Technical Director to join our client's friendly and talented team. This full-time Engine Technical Director role is based at the company's studio in Horsham with hybrid working and comes with a generous salary and benefits.
As an Engine Technical Director, you will be responsible for the planning and development of Core Engine Systems to support the project requirements. You will also help build and direct a team to deliver long-term plans for the team, ensuring every decision they make regarding new technology keeps them at the genre's pinnacle. Please note that this role is hybrid and has an expectation of one day every fortnight in the company's Horsham studio. Fully remote working would also be considered within the country of employment in exceptional circumstances.
To give you an idea of how this Engine Technical Director job would look and feel, here are some things you could expect to do:
- Devise longer-term central planning for engine development
- Guide a team of programmers and work closely with other disciplines to deliver on the game's vision
- Provide technical guidance for code implementation, coding standards and quality
- Provide mentoring and guidance to the engine team
- Own directing optimisation efforts across all aspects of the project
To apply, you will need experience working with Unreal Engine 4 on a AAA title. You will also require the following:
- Extensive professional C++ programming experience
- Deep knowledge and understanding of game engine development
- Development experience on consoles
- Excellent communication skills to enable effective collaboration across the project
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5 (desirable)
