Remote Design Director 

Are you comfortable inspiring a team, shaping creative visions and managing all stages of game development? If you’ve got experience shipping F2P, multiplayer and multi-platform games and are ready to take on a Director position at an exciting studio, then this could be the job for you! 

As the Design director you will be in charge of everything from idea generation to business strategy. You’ll be working closely with a range of individuals in the team and making sure they’re supported to be able to work at their best, while feeling valued and supported. You’ll need to be business savvy and a natural communicator as the relationships you build in the team will be what will allow you and the studio to excel.

Design Director key responsibilities: 

  • Take personal responsibility for leading the studio’s creative strategy and everything that may involve from idea generation to game jams 
  • Oversee the studio through ideation, pre-production and production of the games while making sure the direction of the rest of the industry is both taken into consideration and thrown out of the window when needed! 
  • Lead the creative and design teams and work with other senior members of these teams to effectively manage and progress each individual. This can be through career development, reviews, pay discussions, mentoring – anything to stretch and inspire the team 
  • Work with other directors in the business to make sure the vision for the games and the studio are aligned with the business and will help to deliver commercial goals 

Essential requirements for this remote role: 

  • Extensive background of work leading teams of designers to ship games that you’re proud of – including F2P, multiplayer and multi-platform games 
  • Top design instincts that are grown from your experience and passion for gaming 
  • Experience taking ideas from concept to live service, and everything else in the game development cycle between 
  • Understanding of different business and revenue models and how they translate into the day to day running of the studio 
  • Leaving in your wake a string of happy, motivated, fulfilled game design teams that have been shaped by your leadership and coaching 
  • Good knowledge of the industry and current trends, with a desire to keep abreast of changes and new information/approaches 
  • Experience with a wide range of design mechanics and systems and the ability to explain these and other complex ideas to a range of people across teams and seniorities
