A well-established AAA Swedish studio is working on a new IP and is looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join their welcoming and inclusive team. You will be a game maker focused on building robust and reusable backend components for the studio's teams. This full-time role will be based in Stockholm, offering an excellent salary and benefits package for your expertise and a hybrid working model.
As part of the Backend team, you could work on anything from quests, ranking, or in-game economy to friends, chat, etc. The team uses various technologies, such as Go, C++, Rust, GCP, AWS, Bazel, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Google Spanner. You do not need to have any experience with games or games studios to apply.
To give you an idea of how this Backend Engineer role will look and feel, here are a few areas you can expect to work in:
- Collaborating and working closely with fellow software engineers and technical directors
- Building and improving services, features and tools for game development
- Continuously improving the studio's engineering practices
- Ensuring your code adds a great amount of value to your colleagues.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about interactive experiences, games, and new technologies and have a creative and curious mind. The ideal Backend Engineer candidate will have:
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and experience building them
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering practices and what it takes to keep services running smoothly around the clock
- Ability to be a great team player with good communication skills
- Good grasp of performance, optimization and observability and experience with some of the technologies the studio uses
