Skillsearch is seeking an experienced and dedicated Art Director with a proven track record of delivering visually inspiring games to join our client's inclusive and welcoming team. This full-time Art Director role is remote in the UK and offers a favourable salary and benefits. 

As an Art Director, you will play a key role in guiding technology and tool and pipeline development while helping to realise the game vision for an entirely new AAA open-world game. You will also encourage productivity and identify risks and opportunities for improvement throughout the team.  

In your first few weeks in this Art Director role, you can expect to: 

  • Motivate and inspire the art teams, ensuring that the artistic style is consistent with the creative vision for the project 
  • Manage and develop the art leads across the company, setting objectives, looking after the team's welfare and providing mentoring 
  • Encourage the visual quality in collaboration with other directors and leads, practically adapting and re-prioritising creative and technical artistic changes 
  • Collaborate with production and discipline leads on project planning, workflows and visual direction 
  • Oversee and provide detailed feedback to multiple art disciplines, including 2D, 3D, lighting, VFX and concept art 

To apply for this Art Director job, you must have shipped at least one AAA title as an Art or Assistant Art Director and be highly proficient in current development tools and software such as Unreal, Maya or 3DS Max, Zbrush, Substance and Photoshop. You should also be a confident Art Director with excellent verbal and written communication, able to articulate visual ideas with clarity and conviction and provide clear feedback and guidance. In addition, you should have a good understanding of essential art principles, colour and lighting theory, composition and staging techniques. Exceptional knowledge of up-to-date game development processes and a keen interest in the latest technological advancements are also essential.
