Animation Technical Director in Shanghai

As an Animation Technical Director at this Shanghai-based studio, you will be determining, preparing and adapting animation tools to be used in production, training animators on these tools and supervising the integration of animation assets into the game engine, as well as much more.

Animation Technical Director responsibilities: 

• Create tools and scripts to enhance production workflows and the art pipeline 
• Work with artists and engineers to understand requirements of efficient workflows for production 
• Work with the Art Director to match the visual style of the game 
• Animate within a complex animation system 
• Provide solutions for complex rigging, animation and shading pipeline problems 
• Define technical needs and assess technical feasibilities 
• Acquire internal and external tools 
• Stay on top of new technical and technological developments and apply them on the project when needed 

Key requirements for this role in Shanghai: 

• Animation and leadership experience 
• Strong knowledge of animation software such as Motion Builder, 3DS Max, and Maya 
• Understanding of game engines such as Unity or Unreal as well as their technical constraints 
• University degree (or equivalent experience) in 3D Animation/Computer Graphics 
• Passionate about video games and video game culture
