As an Animation Director at this studio based in Edinburgh, you will be using state-of-the-art technology to drive the artistic vision for their current AAA project. You will be responsible for recruiting for the animation team, as well as mentoring the team throughout the project to support their career development.

The studio is currently working on a highly anticipated new game, so it’s a great time to join them in the process of completing this exciting new IP. The team here are valued for their individual input and are encouraged to use their voice, so you can be sure that you will have a huge impact on the end product.

Animation Director responsibilities:

• Direct motion capture shoots to generate fluid gameplay animations
• Hold responsibility for all aspects of gameplay animation and set the standard for quality
• Provide solutions for problems quickly and efficiently
• Recruit and mentor the animation team
• Provide feedback on gameplay animations
• Establish gameplay animation production pipelines and enforce this process throughout the project

Essential requirements for this role in Edinburgh:

• Experience on working on three or more published games as an Animation Director (or equivalent role) – at least one AAA game
• Experience with motion capture pipelines and directing motion capture shoots
• Expert understanding of the animation process and fundamentals
• Understanding of and experience with game engines
• Familiar with one or more types of Animation software (Maya, MotionBuilder, etc.)
• Significant experience of character/creature animation
