First big GDPR fine hits

We've been watching out for the first big GDPR fine to crop up and with all of the grey areas in the legislation, it was bound to happen.

Google has been fined 50 million euros (£44m) by the French data regulator CNIL, for a breach of the EU's data protection rules.

At Skillsearch we have a solid policy in place to make sure that your information is not misused. For transparency here is a quick outline of how we most commonly obtain and deal with your data.

If your contact information is available in a public job searching domain then we may contact you to see if we can help with your job search.

When you engage with us from here your information will be added to our database to track any further correspondence. This should be communicated to you via your point of contact and will be followed by an email confirmation from the company within 30 days. We will then store this information securely until it is not relevant for us to hold it anymore. You can, however, request for your record to be removed from our database at any time.

Please be aware though that the rules regarding company details and business to business contacts are different. If you'd like any further information on any of this then you can read our privacy policy in full or get in touch with us on

Keep your data safe kids!

Operations Manager Catrin Jones

Catrin is a jack of all trades at Skillsearch, but she's master of them all too! The unflappable, enthusiastic face that will be your go-to for any questions - that's for contractors, clients and us in the office as well. She's always ready and willing to help and we haven't yet found a problem that she can't solve. She does have an Achilles heel though as she hasn’t yet worked out how to whistle, which would really come in handy when it comes to her new fur baby – Evie the Cockapoo!
