Best of Brighton: A Brightonian’s Guide to The ‘Must-Do’s” when in The City

Develop conference is always a team favourite at Skillsearch and largely the reason behind this is that it takes place in the city that we know and love. As our offices are based in the heart of the Lanes, I thought it would be nice to pass on some of our local knowledge of some of the activities you can’t miss whilst in our seaside city.

Don’t forget this year Play@Develop is back! After two years off due to Covid, our beachside event in aid of SpecialEffect is once again taking place on the second day of Develop (Wednesday 13th July), down at Loading Bar! Expect drinks in the sun, raffles, competitions and more, with some of the best company the games industry has to offer. Click here to reserve your FREE ticket now

Without further ado, let’s get into my top activity recommendations!

Psst... Keep an eye on our socials for our raffle prizes announcement as some of the below venues might just have some vouchers on offer...

British Airways i360

This is one you literally cannot miss. If you’re standing outside of the Develop venue, look just to your right and the giant pole sticking out of the beach? That’s the i360. It’s undeniable that it really does offer Brighton’s best view – a 360 panoramic experience with both the sea and the city sprawled out below you, it’s truly a unique experience!

Brighton Pavilion

The Royal Pavilion is also a must-see. The historic house and it’s beautiful gardens built for King George IV really does stand out among the hustle and bustle of the city centre. A stroll around the gardens and a peek inside at the stunning interior is well worth a visit!

Brighton Palace Pier

The Palace Pier is another one you simply can't miss! With free admission where you can enjoy rides, bars, restaurants, a classic arcade and plenty more, this one has to be on the bucket list for a sunny afternoon in Brighton!

Komedia

If you’re looking for some evening entertainment, Komedia is here for you as both the cultural and geographical heart of the city! With a diverse programme of arts and entertainment from comedy to cabaret and everything in between, you’re always in for a great night here!

Brighton Zip

Fancy an adrenaline rush as a break from the conference? Take a stroll down to Brighton Zip – the longest and fastest zip wire along the south coast. Running along the beach and offering a stunning sea view, you can take a solo ride or race alongside a friend thanks to their dual lines! Perfect for a breath of fresh air after a day at Develop.

Pier Pressure

Another great opportunity to let your hair down after a busy conference day, Pier Pressure escape rooms offer fun and unique puzzles, racing against time to your goal: escaping the room! Based in the city centre, this one’s definitely worth some time out of your trip!

Lucky Voice

Our last recommendation is perfect for letting your hair down post-conference! The Lucky Voice karaoke bar gives you the chance to sing and dance the night away in your own private roomy, whilst enjoying cocktails and snacks, delivered to your booth!
