We work to a basic model we call our “Iceberg” methodology where the majority of work goes unseen. We proactively engage with our candidates to ensure we know their exact needs including role and company type, location and career ambitions. We appreciate that recruitment is often not a quick fix – it can take months and beyond to source a dream job and we’ll be there for the journey no matter how long. When our clients ask for our help a lot of the sourcing work has already been done as we are constantly proactively anticipating our next request and are prequalifying candidates against that likely request. This means that when a role goes live we can deliver quicker and more accurately than our competitors. Our aim is to make the job look as easy as possible from the outside.
For clients we want to make sure we get as great an understanding of your requirements as possible by making them three dimensional and not just rely on a spec via email. We ask to spend some time with you (ideally face to face where practical) to get an excellent understanding of each individual role, your culture, your team and even the logistics of how to get to your offices. All these elements can make a key difference when we are introducing a candidate to their next potential employer.

Every person in our Games team loves their video games. They’d be in the wrong job if they didn’t! But Stan is our shining star. At one stage he had a FIFA world ranking of 254 so its no surprise that on our bimonthly gaming nights, everyone fights to have him on their team! But he’s more than just games - Stan is a great listener and has a real love of dogs which, as we all know, only says good things about his character.
Katie is our candidate queen and spends her time listening to people paint pictures of their dream job ready for whenever that job pops up. Katie’s claim to fame is meeting the Queen which in turn led to movie stardom (sort of)- ask her about it!

Joe is our Animation and VFX Consultant, his passion for the latter springing from being blown away by the effects in Star Wars at a young age. His love hasn’t wavered and Joe always seems to bring out a new Star Wars t shirt every dress down we have! We are lucky to have him considering that he once got stuck half way up a mountain in Borneo so now he goes for flatter holidays – most recently driving across America in a Mustang.
Tom is our specialist Unity & C++ Consultant. He is a massive football fan and has followed 4 generations in supporting Fulham FC. Originally from Hastings, Tom grew up in Tunbridge wells, but has finally decided to settle in Brighton after briefly spending time in London & New Zealand. Tom admits he has some odd quirks. When listening to music, he insists on having it set on an even number. He also cannot walk under ladders or walk over 3 drains in a row.
Our Oracle expert, Mark, has dedicated nearly a decade to growing our Oracle practice here at Skillsearch. He is a keen cricketer who bats a bit, bowls a bit less and is amazing at standing in the field. A Manchester United fan and a proud Father, Mark holds the record for having more things from Amazon delivered to the office than everyone else combined. He also has an infectious laugh so try and get him going when you speak to him.
Sanson works with Joe to find the absolute best Animators and VFX Artists although their talents don't stop there! This team are our shining stars when it comes to getting to know a company inside and out and being able to complete a whole team. Alex places Artists across the globe partially due to his willingness to respond to emails or calls at all hours. Alex himself has mad skills when putting pen to paper and creating a caricature – often of those of us in the office - and is our self-appointed social secretary, organising great nights of comedy, theatre and whatever Brighton has to offer that month!
Our Operations Manager Catrin is here for all our Consultants, Contractors and Clients for everything they need help with throughout the recruitment process. A priceless point of contacts for a number of client and candidate enquiries, she is an important part of the strong relationships we build and maintain as a business. Despite her talent in a vast number of activities however, Catrin’s main regret is her inability to whistle, although we have to admit it is quite amusing to watch her try.
Alice is the brain behind the beautiful content you see coming from Skillsearch! She’s a pro at taking all of our haphazard ideas and turning them into the interesting and eye catching posts that you know and love. This is a real skill of hers in all parts of life as she’s known for making some pretty interesting recipes using whatever she can find in the kitchen. We do have to agree that the best thing she’s made so far though are her two beautiful sons (although her work here comes a close second!).
Our MD fitness fanatic and father of 3 Richard will be found running or in the gym every lunch as he says that’s the only place he ever gets any peace and quiet. Voted 9 out of 10 as a geek by the team Richards top 3 loves are Star Wars, Tottenham Hotspur and his family – although we aren’t sure in which order. Richard is the office oracle and says what he doesn’t know about recruitment isn’t worth knowing – we haven’t managed to prove him wrong yet!
Our CEO Stuart is a highly successful and entrepreneurial business owner with over 25 years’ commercial experience. Over those years he’s managed to cultivate not one but two incredibly successful recruitment businesses as well as a marvellous beard. Stuart has created many employment opportunities on the way and despite being slightly terrifying in interview Stuart shows his warm, fluffy side and love of paisley shirts when you’re working for him.
Working alongside Alex, Harry is dedicated to speaking to brilliant Games Artists across the globe. A County level Squash champion Harry also likes a sedate life and is more likely to be found at the weekend with a fishing rod in hand rather than a racquet.
Specialising in Workday, HRIS and Finance tech Adam is always the first in the office and often the last one to leave. We asked Adam to tell us a bit about his personal life but he assured us that he was too focused on work to have one. Despite this he does enjoy the occasional trip to Craven Cottage to watch Fulham although we are not sure that qualifies as stress relief.

Giles runs our Gaming & Interactive division and specialises in forming tight knit teams, whether that’s for a studio or in our office. He represented his county at rugby for every age group from 12 onwards which no doubt helped him to cultivate his excellent understanding of team dynamics. Giles is known for his warmth and willingness to take time to work through any issues that may arise, although make sure you don’t try and share his food as then you won’t be getting a warm welcome – Giles doesn’t share food!
